Se come me appartenete alla seconda categoria, non vi allarmate: potete sempre puntare sul make up! Gli ingredienti per un look ricercato e originale sono strass colorati, eccentriche ciglia finte e tanta tanta creatività.

Hello everybody! Carnival is just round the corner... are you ready to disguise or haven't you thought about it at all? If you fit in the second category -like me- don't panic: you can always count on make up! The ingredients for a refined and original look are coloured strass, eccentric fake lashes and a lot of creativity.

Per chi ama realizzare look un po' più complessi e interpretare un personaggio, ecco alcune idee: vi sentite più Cleopatra o Pocahontas? Preferite vestire i panni di una romantica geisha o impersonare un quadro della Pop art?

Vi è mai capitato di sognare a occhi aperti davanti alle immagini delle passerelle, e di ammirare gli abiti e il trucco scelto per le sfilate? Oggi il make up è diventato un elemento indispensabile per creare il mood di ogni collezione, e per donare alle modelle un'aria accattivante, talvolta edgy e trasgressiva. Il trucco diventa così uno degli assi portanti di una sfilata, e colpisce per la propria creatività e rottura degli schemi.

In questo post voglio darvi un assaggio dei trucchi più edgy e provocatori che sono comparsi sulle passerelle delle grandi firme. Sono sicura che saranno di ispirazione a molti di voi!

Nowadays make up has become an essential element: it creates the mood of every collection, and makes the models look charming, sometimes edgy and transgressive. So make up turns into one of the fashion show's focal points, and affects the audience for its creativity and break with tradition.  

In this post I want to give you a taste of the edgier and most provocative make up looks which appeared on the designer brands runway. I'm sure they will ispire many of you!

Nella collezione Primavera/Estate 2013 di Chanel il ruolo da protagonista spetta al pizzo, che rende elegante, pur nella sua stravaganza, anche il make up occhi. Per l'anno successivo il marchio francese punta su un effetto grafico, trasformando i visi delle modelle in tele da dipingere.

In Chanel Spring/Summer 2013 collection the lead role lie with lace, which makes the eye make up more elegant, and yet bizarre. The next year the french brand count on a graphic effect, turning the model's face into a canva to be painted.

Come possiamo vedere, anche l'eccentrica Vivienne Westwood dimostra che il viso può fungere da supporto per creare delle vere e proprie opere d'arte, alcune frutto della mano di Val Garland, una delle make up artist più dotate in circolazione!

As you can see, even Vivienne Westwood proves that face can function as a fabric to create a real work of art. Some of these are the result of Val Garland's touch: she's one of the best Make up artist around!

Some tips for an everyday make up!

Sono tornata con nuove idee da proporvi, soprattutto riguardo al make up.

Oggi vorrei darvi qualche consiglio su come realizzare un trucco naturale per tutti i giorni e adatto a qualsiasi tipo di viso. Come fare per iniziare la giornata con una carnagione fresca e salutare anche quando abbiamo poco tempo a disposizione - o, come capita a volte, poca voglia di sperimentare con i pennelli? In soli 5 minuti possiamo creare un look semplice.

Per iniziare, 3 semplici step:

1. Applichiamo una BB cream (io consiglio quella di Maybelline) o un fondotinta.

2. Stendiamo del correttore sulle occhiaie e sulle imperfezioni della pelle.

3. Fissiamo il tutto con un po' di cipria, per assicurarci che il trucco duri.

I'm back with new ideas to suggest you, especially regarding make up. Today I would like to give you some advice to create a natural, everyday make up, suitable for any type of face. How can we start the day with a fresh and healthy skin even when we have little time - or we just don't feel like playing with our brushes? It takes just 5 minutes to create an easy look.

First of all, 3 simple steps:

1. Apply a BB cream (I suggest you the one by Maybelline) or a foundation.

2. Use a concealer on your eye socket and on your imperfection.

3. Apply a face powder to make sure that your make up will last.

A questo punto, dobbiamo decidere quale parte del nostro viso vogliamo mettere maggiormente in risalto, gli occhi o la bocca. Se scegliamo di concentrarci sullo sguardo, consiglio di stendere un ombretto naturale (sui toni del beige) e usare una matita (nera, o colorata) o un eye liner per delineare l'occhio.

Now, you have to choose which part of your face you want to emphasise more, your eyes or your lips.

If you want to focus the attention on your eyes, I recommend applying a neutral (beige) shadow and using a black or coloured pencil/eye liner.

 

                          

Possiamo giocare anche con dei colori accesi e appariscenti (come il giallo o il fuxia), visto che il resto del viso rimarrà neutro.

You can also play with intense and flashy colours (like yellow or fuxia), since the rest of your face will be neutral.

Se preferiamo dare risalto alla bocca, possiamo utilizzare un rossetto opaco (si può osare anche un rosso) e lasciare gli occhi nude, stendendo tanto mascara!

If you prefer to highlight the lips, you can use a matte lipstick (you can dare a red one) and keep your eyes nude, applying a lot of mascara!

Ciao ragazze e ragazzi! Il post di oggi sarà un viaggio nel mondo della cosmesi, per constatare come il trucco e la percezione della bellezza femminile siano cambiati nel corso degli anni. 

Nei primi decenni del Novecento sono state le dive del cinema e dello spettacolo a scoprire i benefici del trucco, mentre il resto delle donne non ne facevano uso. Negli anni '40 e '50 nasce una nuova immagine di donna, femminile e seducente. Si inizia a parlare di Alta moda solo negli anni '60, e il make up diventa vero protagonista. Oggi non ci sono dubbi: il trucco si è trasformato con la società, ed è diventato a tutti gli effetti una forma d'arte.

Di seguito vi mostrerò delle foto di trucchi d'epoca, e li affiancherò a delle rivisitazioni moderne, molto più estrose ed originali, che possiamo rintracciare nei backstage delle sfilate. Che dire, buon viaggio!

 

Hi girls and boys! Today's post is going to be a journey in the world of cosmetics, in order to verify how make up and the notion of feminine beauty have changed through the years. 

In the first decades of the 20th century, movies and tv celebrities were the first to discover the benefits of make up, whilst the rest of women did not make use of it. In the 40's and 50's a new image of a feminine and seductive woman was born. In the 60's make up became a protagonist. Nowadays there are no doubts: make up has changed with society and it has become a real form of art.

Below I'll show you some pictures of old make up styles, next to modern versions, way too extravagant and original, which we can find in the catwalks' backstages. Well, have a good journey!

Beloved smokey eyes

Ciao amanti del make up!

In questo post vi parlerò di un trucco molto amato dalle donne, e che da anni è il protagonista della maggior parte degli editoriali di moda. Stiamo parlando dello smokey eyes, l'inconfondibile sguardo accattivante che si sposa perfettamente con un look edgy e rock, ma può essere abbinato anche a un outfit sofisticato ed elegante.

A seconda del nostro modo di essere e dell'occasione, questo trucco può essere portabile e leggero, di un colore neutro come il marrone, oppure si può scegliere di osare con un total black o con colori vistosi come il blu elettrico e il verde smeraldo. 

Il modo più semplice per creare questo trucco è stendere un matitone nero su tutta la palpebra mobile, fissarlo con della cipria e poi applicare un ombretto in polvere, sfumando verso l'esterno.

La parola d'ordine è: sfumare, sfumare, sfumare.

In this post I'm going to tell you about a make up extremely loved by women, which is the protagonist of most fashion editorials. I'm talking about smoky eyes, the unmistakable charming eyes which match perfectly with an edgy and rock look, but can also be matched with a sophisticated and elegant outfit.

Depending on our way of being and on the occasion, this look can be an everyday make up, light, in a neutral colour like brown, or we can choose to dare with a total black or flashy colours like electric blue and emerald green.

The easiest way to get this look is apply a black eye pencil all over the eyelid, fix it with some powder, then apply a powder shadow, and blend it.

The watchword is: blend, blend, blend.

Ciao a tutti! Sono tornata per parlarvi di una modella molto speciale, che ha cambiato radicalmente la concezione di moda e di bellezza femminile, e dopo venticinque anni di carriera continua ad affascinare e a far parlare di sé. Naturalmente sto parlando di Kate Moss.

Hi everyone! I'm back to tell you about a very special model, who radically changed the idea of fashion and feminine beauty, and after a 25-year-long career continues to fascinate and make people talk about her. Naturally I'm talking about Kate Moss.

 

 

Grazie alla sua aria sbarazzina, talvolta trasgressiva, e alle sue imperfezioni, è diventata un'icona nel mondo della moda. Accanto a colleghe come Claudia Schiffer, Elle Macpherson e Naomi Campbell, Kate rappresentava un modello di bellezza alternativa: il suo fisico minuto e il sorriso imperfetto sono stati il suo marchio di fabbrica. 

Credo che l'immenso successo di questa supermodella sia dovuto proprio al fatto che rappresenta un ideale di donna più reale, e più vicino a noi. Ho sempre pensato che bellezza non sia sinonimo di perfezione, e quelli che vengono considerati difetti possono diventare punti di forza.

La sua forte personalità le ha permesso di rimanere sulla cresta dell'onda, anche dopo numerosi scandali in cui si è trovata coinvolta. E così è nata la tendenza Kate. Che non passerà mai di moda.  

 

Thanks to her jaunty, sometimes transgressive attitude, and to her imperfections, she is become an icon in the world of fashion. Next to models as Claudia Schiffer, Elle Macpherson and Naomi Campbell, Kate symbolizes an alternative model of beauty: her minute body and the imperfect smile was her trade-mark.

I think that the huge success of this supermodel is due to the fact that she represents an idea of a real woman, which is closer to us. I've always believed that beauty is not a synonym of perfection, and those which are considered flaws can become strong points.  

Her strong personality allowed her to ride on the crest of a wave, even after many scandals she got involved with. So the Kate-trend was born. And it will never go out of fashion.
